Optical Assistant — i2i Optometrists, Howard Street, Glasgow
About the role
We're looking for an Optical Assistant to join our team at i2i Optometrists on Howard Street. You'll help customers find the right frames and lenses, manage stock, process prescriptions, and support our optometrists in delivering great eye care.
No optical experience needed—we'll train you fully. What we're looking for is someone who's good with people and detail-oriented.
What you'll do
- Help customers choose frames and lenses that work for their prescription and lifestyle
- Manage spectacle orders, stock, and lab communication
- Process NHS and private prescriptions accurately
- Handle the day-to-day running of a busy practice (stock ordering, filing, general housekeeping)
- Support the team and keep things running smoothly
What we're looking for
- Excellent customer service skills (retail, hospitality, or customer-facing experience is a real plus)
- Attention to detail—prescriptions and fitting are precise work
- Reliability and punctuality
- A friendly, problem-solving approach
- Willingness to learn optical systems, products, and processes on the job
