Purpose: To prepare and serve nutritious, safe and well-presented meals to the residents.
Main Responsibilities:
- To provide a choice of well portioned and nutritious meals for residents according to menu plan
- To seek the preferences of residents when preparing and reviewing menu plans
- To be aware of current food safety legislation
- To manage stock control, minimising waste
- To place weekly orders and check in deliveries using safety checks
- To work within the budgets set by management
- To supervise the kitchen staff and enable them to carry out their duties competently, safely and efficiently
- To assist management in the risk assessing of kitchen areas
- To take part in internal & external training as required
- To attend and contribute to staff meetings when required
- To induct new members of staff into the kitchen
- To take responsibility for cleanliness and safety of kitchen areas
- To liaise with Environmental Health and Pest Control specialists
- To be aware of the causes and factors involved in food poisoning and cross contamination, and take steps to prevent them
- To have an awareness of the importance of nutrition and hydration in Elderly care
- To maintain confidentiality on all aspects of care and your work within the home
- To promote the values of St Serfs Care Home at all times
Experience:
- Cooking: 1 year (required)
- Food safety: 1 year (required)
