This is a senior, lead‑engineer position on shift: you’re the multi‑skilled maintenance lead for the line, directing a small team of electrical and mechanical trades, owning breakdown response, delivering planned work issued via SAP, supporting project work, and contributing to shutdown maintenance operations.

The Working Pattern & Package
- 4 on 4 off – days & nights (06:00–18:00 / 18:00–06:00)
- 3‑month days stint built into the rotation
- Circa £60k–£61k total salary (all‑in for the rota)
- Up to 10% bonus
The Role
You act as the lead multi‑skilled engineer on shift, responsible for the safe, reliable running of the production line and associated plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full technical ownership of the line during shift
- Receive and deliver structured handovers
- Work through planned maintenance raised in SAP
- Allocate work to the shift electrician and mechanical fitter
- Personally carry out maintenance, fault‑finding and breakdown response
- Point‑to‑point electrical fault‑finding on Siemens control systems (I/O level)
- Support Siemens drives and Simotion systems at fault‑finding/parameter level
- Ensure accurate SAP close‑out, parts usage and technical reporting
- Maintain safe working practices (LOTOTO, permits, RA/MS)
- Lead the shift team, set priorities and provide technical direction
- Liaise with production, shift leaders and the Production Engineering Manager
- Escalate deeper PLC/software issues to the Day Engineering team
- Contribute to CI, reliability and first‑time‑fix improvements
About You
Technical Background
- NVQ Level 3+ (electrical or multi‑skilled)
- Electrical bias with solid mechanical capability
- Experience in automated manufacturing or industrial maintenance
- Comfortable fault‑finding on Siemens PLC‑controlled plant
- Exposure to Siemens drives / Simotion beneficial
- Formal safety training (LOTOTO, IOSH, PTW)
Shift & Environment
- Experience in heavy, continuous or high‑volume manufacturing
- Willing to work permanent 4 on 4 off days & nights
- Comfortable in a 24/7, 365 operation
Leadership & Behaviours
- Experience as a lead/senior engineer on shift, or ready to step up
- Structured, logical fault‑finder
- Strong communicator with clear handover discipline
- High personal standards around safety and quality
- Calm under pressure, decisive, and resilient
Nice‑to‑Have
- High‑temperature or automated process experience
- SAP CMMS familiarity
