JOB DESCRIPTION FOR WEEKEND CARE ASSISTANT
Position: Senior Care Assistant
Report to: Assistant Manager, Manager and Owners
Purpose of Position:
- To lead the staff team
- Liase with medical health professional's and families
- To provide personal care for all residents
- To attend to the day to day needs, both physical and mental of the residents
Principal Responsibilities
Day to Day:
- Participate in the working rota weekends and Bank Holidays as necessary, for the efficient provision of care for all residents in a way that respects the dignity of the individual at all times.
- Assisting residents in bathing, dressing and general mobility in accordance to their individual plan of care
- Assisting residents with their personal hygiene requirements in accordance to their individual plan of care.
- Assisting residents with their continence requirements in accordance to their individual plan of care.
- Reporting any changes in residents’ health or behaviour to your immediate supervisor.
- Reading the communication book at the start of the shift to be familiar with any changes with the residents and making any notes throughout the shift regarding the residents.
- Writing up the residents’ daily notes and care plans
- Making beds daily and changing the beds when necessary.
- Retrieving from and delivering personal laundry to residents’ rooms.
- Cleaning and tidying up resident’s bedrooms.
- Cleaning commodes
- Assisting in the provision of meals as appropriate, including cooking meals when necessary.
- Working with all other staff to ensure a happy, clean, dignified and safe environment for the residents.
- Ensuring adherence to the Company policies and procedures relevant to this role.
- Delivering social activities within the daily routine.
- Assisting in the safe control, administration and storage of resident’s medication as prescribed by the General Practitioner, (for the ones with approved certificates trained).
- Develop good relations with all relatives and visitors.
- Assisting with general cleaning, tidying and kitchen duties.
- Participate in the planned training programme of the Home and attend staff meetings.
- Answer door bells.
- Answer telephone calls when needed.
- Be flexible with working hours to cover other members of staff when on holiday or sick.
- Participate in other duties which may be required from time to time.
Pay: £13.66 per hour
