About the Role
We are seeking a talented and disciplined Head Chef in our busy hotel kitchen. You will oversee and run the kitchen on a daily basis, you will be expected to manage daily service, oversee food preparation, and mentor the junior culinary team alongside your sous chef, develop the menu and improve continuously. This is a fantastic opportunity for a current Sous Chef to make a lasting impact on our menus and service or a Head Chef ready for a new challenge to come on board with an exciting future.
Key Responsibilities
- Kitchen Leadership: Run kitchen shifts smoothly, ensuring the highest standards of food preparation and presentation.
- Menu Execution: Create innovative menus for the restaurant, afternoon teas, and large-scale banquets.
- Team Mentorship: Supervise, train, and motivate junior kitchen staff (including Commis Chefs, Chef de Parties, Sous Chef and Kitchen Porters).
- Stock & Cost Control: Monitor stock rotation, minimize wastage, and assist with ordering and monthly stocktakes to maintain GP targets.
- Food Safety: Maintain absolute compliance with food hygiene ratings, COSHH, health and safety, and precise allergen management.
About You
- Experience: You must have previous experience as a Head Chef or strong Sous Chef within a busy hotel or restaurant environment.
- Leadership Style: A confident, calm, and fair leader who communicates clearly and thrives under peak service pressure.
- Skillset: Excellent classical culinary techniques with a passion for fresh, locally sourced ingredients, ability to adapt menus and make alternative arrangements dependant on dietary needs.
- Compliance: Up-to-date Food Hygiene Certification (Level 3 preferred)
Pay: Up to £38,000.00 per year
