We are a friendly, independent 60-bedroom hotel in central London seeking an experienced and reliable Maintenance Operative to join our team.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys solving problems and takes pride in keeping a property in excellent condition. You will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general repairs and maintenance throughout the hotel
- Basic plumbing repairs, including taps, toilets and shower fittings
- Basic electrical maintenance such as replacing fittings and fault finding (within competence)
- Decorating, wallpapering, painting and touch-up work
- Carpentry and furniture repairs
- Lock, door and window repairs
- Routine inspections and preventative maintenance
- Liaising with contractors and supervising works when required
- Responding promptly to maintenance issues raised by staff and guests
- Maintaining a safe and well-presented environment
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience in hotel, residential, facilities or building maintenance
- Fluency in English is essential for clear communication with team members and guests
- Good all-round practical skills
- Able to work independently and prioritise tasks
- Reliable, organised and proactive
- Friendly and professional manner
