About MODUS Super Series
MODUS Super Series is a live televised darts tournament broadcast six days a week, fifty weeks a year, from our purpose-built studio in Portsmouth, Hampshire. Our output is distributed internationally on Pluto TV across the UK, Europe, Canada and Latin America, reaching a global darts audience every single day of the year.
We are a small, ambitious team producing broadcast output at a scale and frequency that few UK production companies attempt. The channel does not go off air.
The Role
We are looking for a Multi-Skilled Studio Operative to join our production team, based primarily in the broadcast gallery.
This is a hands-on live production role. You will be part of the small team that puts the show on air, moving between technical positions as the schedule requires. We train our operatives across every gallery discipline, and we expect people to progress. Our current operatives have moved from camera through to directing and replay.
This is an addition to our existing team rather than a replacement, and reflects the continued growth of the channel.
Key Responsibilities
- Operating audio and lighting desks for live broadcast
- Vision mixing live output
- Operating robotic cameras remotely from the production gallery
- Operating the replay machine
- Directing live broadcasts, with full training provided and progression into the role expected over time
- Occasional handheld and gimbal camera work during live shows and on location for feature content
- Preparing the gallery ahead of transmission and carrying out shutdown procedures afterwards
- Working to MODUS Super Series broadcast and editorial standards at all times
- Reporting technical faults promptly and accurately
Essential Skills
- The ability to work calmly and accurately under live transmission pressure
- Excellent time management and communication skills
- Willingness to follow direction while using initiative when the situation requires it
- A proactive, enthusiastic and self-motivated attitude
- The ability to work independently and as part of a small, collaborative team
- Flexibility to work unsociable hours, evenings, Saturdays and occasional Sundays
- Attention to detail and a genuine standard of pride in the finished product
Desirable Experience
Gained through professional work or relevant education:
- Live television, streaming or event production
- Audio desk and lighting desk operation
- Vision mixing, with familiarity of vMix an advantage although training will be provided
- Camera operation, including robotic camera systems
- Replay software
- Video editing, which is useful but not a requirement for this role
- A qualification in television production, broadcast media or a related discipline
- An interest in or knowledge of darts
Who We Are Looking For
Experienced live production professionals and recent graduates with relevant qualifications are equally encouraged to apply. Attitude, reliability and the willingness to learn matter as much to us as the skills you arrive with.
What We Offer
- Structured training across every gallery discipline
- A defined progression path towards directing and replay operation
- Live broadcast experience at a volume very few UK productions can offer
- A small, close team where your work is visible and your contribution counts
How to Apply
- Apply through Indeed with your CV and a short covering note explaining why this role interests you. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview at our Portsmouth studio.
Pay: £29,000.00-£32,500.00 per year
