We actively encourage play and interaction between child and parent if help is needed.
Job description
Supporting both the child and parent in building a trusting and long lasting relationship. working with both parents to encourage child focused time together in the centre. Actively encouraging play and interaction between child and parent when need arises , otherwise standing back and offering support .You will help prepare the centre before families arrive , getting out age appropriate games and toys, preparing drinks and refreshments and clearing up at the end of the session .
Experience of working with children and families useful but not essential and full training is given . Good social skills and understanding of children's issues is an advantage but not essential. A lack of formal qualifications is not a barrier to volunteering for this role as a warm and pleasant personality and desire to help is more important . This is a role that suits people who have worked in education, social and health care situations and are looking to share their knowledge and experience with others after retirement. it is also a good way for those starting out in their careers to gain experience . Volunteers work on a team rota and about one session a month is needed as a volunteer commitment.
