Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Fitters Mate / Yard Hand to join our dynamic team. In this hands-on role, you will assist skilled tradespeople and contribute to various construction and fabrication projects. Your energy, attention to detail, and willingness to learn will help ensure smooth operations on-site and in the yard. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop a broad skill set in construction, fabrication, and maintenance while supporting a collaborative work environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist fitter with repairs and maintainance on HGVs, Plant and Heavy plant
- Operate hand tools, power tools.
- Prepare materials and organize supplies in the yard for upcoming projects.
- Support site safety protocols by maintaining a clean and hazard-free work environment.
- Support the team with general yard duties such as loading/unloading materials and maintaining equipment.
Experience
- Previous experience or exposure to construction sites or related trades is preferred but not mandatory; a strong willingness to learn is essential.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to work safely with construction materials and equipment.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately while maintaining a proactive approach to tasks.
- In house training can be provided to the right candidate
- Experience operating heavy plant would be advantageous
- Full uk driving licence prefered.
