What You’ll Be Doing
As a Lecturer in Art, Design & Photography, you'll deliver inspiring, learner-centred teaching across a range of creative programmes, helping learners build the practical, digital and professional skills needed for progression into higher education and careers within the creative industries.
Key responsibilities include:
- Deliver outstanding teaching, learning and assessment across Art, Design and Photography programmes.
- Teach a broad range of creative disciplines including studio practice, drawing, painting, visual communication, digital photography, studio lighting, image editing, portfolio development and contextual studies.
- Promote professional creative practice through exhibitions, live briefs, competitions, educational visits and industry engagement.
- Ensure the safe and effective use of specialist studios, photography equipment, lighting, digital editing software and creative resources.
- Monitor learner progress, maintain accurate records and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Deliver personal tutoring, coaching and pastoral support to help learners achieve their ambitions.
- Contribute to curriculum development, learner recruitment, open events, enrichment activities and quality improvement initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to create an engaging, inclusive and inspiring learning environment.
What We’re Looking For
We're looking for a passionate creative educator who can inspire learners while bringing current industry practice into the classroom.
You will ideally have:
- A Level 3 qualification (or above) in Art, Design, Photography or a related creative discipline.
- A recognised teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards one.
- Recent experience teaching within Art, Design or Photography.
- Excellent teaching, learning and assessment skills, with the ability to adapt delivery to a range of learning styles.
- Strong organisational, administrative and IT skills, including maintaining accurate learner records.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to motivate and inspire learners.
- A commitment to learner enrichment and supporting progression into higher education or employment.
- A commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and creating an inclusive learning environment.
- Industry experience within the creative sector would be advantageous.
