We are a small, supportive team of Cognitive Behavioural Therapists (CBTs) working within a busy Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin (STW).
Following recent internal staff rotations, we have several CBT vacancies available. Applications are welcomed from candidates seeking either full-time or part-time hours, with flexible working options considered.
This post involves delivering psychological therapy for a designated caseload and Children, Young People and Families. This includes the processes of assessment, treatment, evaluation of therapeutic interventions, discharge and follow up; ensuring all practice is based on best practice theoretical model’s which encompass research findings eg NICE guidelines. In the role you will contribute to delivery of the Trust Psychological Practice Strategy within the Trust, drawing on their extensive and specialist knowledge and experience.
The role is primarily face-to-face, with clinics located across the Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin locality.
We also welcome applications from individuals currently completing the Postgraduate Diploma in Children and Young People’s Psychological Training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy who are due to qualify in January 2027. As full BABCP accreditation is a requirement of the substantive role, successful applicants would initially be appointed to a developmental position until accreditation is achieved.
Provide assessment and interventions for children and young people (both for individual and group therapy) and may be ‘hard to treat’, and difficult to engage in other forms of psychological treatment.
Responsible for accepting, assessing and offering interventions for children and young people with complex communication and relationship difficulties.
Participates in service referral meetings and responds directly to referrals requiring follow up.
The provision of consultation, specialised advice, case support, clinical supervision and training are important on-going elements of this post. Including working with colleagues from Early Intervention, transitions to community adult services.
Develop specialist expertise working with children and young people with a range of diagnoses.
Ensures regular use of routine outcome measures.
Organises and plans therapeutic interventions with responsibility for reviewing, monitoring and evaluating outcomes.
Prepares reports, summaries and letters to relevant parties within the limits of professional confidentiality.
Works as case holder unless there is a conflict of interest between therapist/case holder roles.
