Full-Time | Permanent
Shift Pattern: 5 days per week on a rotating basis:
- 6:00am – 2:00pm
- 9:00am – 5:00pm
- 3:00pm – 11:00pm
Flexibility is essential, as shift changes and weekend working may be required to meet operational needs.
Kenect Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a leading organisation within the textile services industry for an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical Bias) to join their engineering team in Belfast.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer to work within a modern, fast-paced production environment, maintaining a wide range of industrial laundry machinery and automated equipment. You'll play a vital role in ensuring maximum plant reliability, minimising downtime, and supporting the smooth running of production.
The Role
As part of the engineering team, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing production machinery, carrying out preventative maintenance, and responding to breakdowns to keep operations running efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance across the production facility.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults to minimise downtime.
- Maintain and service industrial laundry equipment including washers, dryers, ironers, folding machines and conveyor systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical systems and assist with electrical fault finding where required.
- Perform routine inspections, testing and calibration of plant equipment.
- Conduct root cause analysis to identify recurring faults and implement improvements.
- Accurately record maintenance activities, repairs, breakdowns and spare parts used.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with Health & Safety legislation and company procedures.
- Support engineering projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor engineering spare parts and report stock shortages.
- Work closely with production teams to maximise equipment performance and reliability.
About You
We're looking for someone with:
- A recognised Mechanical Engineering qualification or apprenticeship.
- Previous experience as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Shift Engineer or Maintenance Technician.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and maintenance experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Some electrical fault-finding knowledge, including motors, sensors and PLC-controlled equipment.
- Experience maintaining industrial machinery such as conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, chains and automated production equipment.
- A proactive approach with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts and occasional weekends.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience within a commercial laundry, FMCG, food manufacturing, packaging, pharmaceutical or automated production environment.
- Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Experience working with PLC-controlled machinery.
