Petwell House Vets in Hayes is looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Veterinary Receptionist to join our independent small animal practice.
As the first face and voice of Petwell House Vets, you’ll play a hugely important role in creating a warm and welcoming experience for our clients and their beloved pets.
We’re looking for someone who can combine excellent customer service with great organisation, remain calm when things get busy, and genuinely care about helping pets and their owners.
What Will You Be Doing?
No two days are exactly the same in veterinary reception!
Your role will include:
- Welcoming clients and answering telephone calls in a friendly, professional and reassuring manner.
- Booking and managing appointments, ensuring the diary runs efficiently and the veterinary team is well supported.
- Communicating with clients about appointments, treatments, collections, medication and general enquiries.
- Taking payments and processing transactions accurately.
- Updating client and patient records and ensuring information is accurate and kept up to date.
- Welcoming pets and their owners and helping create a calm and positive experience, particularly when clients may be worried or upset.
- Liaising with vets, RVNs and the wider team to ensure clients and patients receive the care they need.
- Receiving deliveries and assisting with stock management when required.
- General administrative and reception duties, including filing, emails and maintaining an organised reception area.
- Helping maintain a clean, welcoming and professional reception environment.
- Occasionally assisting the clinical team with animals when required and appropriate, including helping to safely hold or move patients.

- Experienced in a veterinary reception or small animal practice environment – essential
- Friendly, approachable and confident with clients
- Passionate about providing exceptional customer service
- A genuine animal lover
- Calm and professional, particularly when dealing with worried or emotional pet owners
- Highly organised and able to multitask
- Confident using computers and practice management systems
- Accurate when handling payments, records and appointments
- A strong communicator who enjoys working with people
- Reliable, punctual and dependable
- A positive team player who is happy to support colleagues
- Able to use their own initiative and stay calm in a busy environment
- Keen to learn and develop their veterinary knowledge

Experience
Previous experience in a veterinary practice/small animal environment is essential.
