About Provide
Birmingham-based supported housing provider giving vulnerable adults — people overcoming homelessness, mental health challenges, and other complex needs — a stable, safe place to live and rebuild their lives. We manage a growing portfolio of properties across the city.
The Role
We are looking for a hands-on, reliable Maintenance Operative to take ownership of property upkeep across our Birmingham portfolio. This is a varied, active role — no two days are the same. You will be the person who keeps our properties safe, functional, and ready for residents.
You will work directly with our operations team and support workers, responding to maintenance requests, completing repairs, and carrying out routine checks across the portfolio. You will have real responsibility and real impact from day one.
What You Will Be Doing
- Responding to maintenance requests across our property portfolio — repairs, replacements, and general upkeep
- Carrying out routine property inspections and identifying issues before they become problems
- Completing general trade work — plumbing, joinery, painting, tiling, minor electrical (non-certified), and general repairs
- Coordinating with external contractors for specialist work (gas, electrics, roofing) and being on-site to manage access
- Ensuring all void (empty) properties are turned around quickly and to a high standard, ready for new residents
- Logging all jobs and updates on our management system — keeping clear records of work completed, parts used, and outstanding items
- Working closely with support workers and the operations team to prioritise jobs and manage your own workload
- Ensuring all properties meet health and safety standards and flagging any compliance concerns immediately
What We Are Looking For
- Proven experience in a property maintenance or similar hands-on role
- Able to turn your hand to a range of trades — you do not need to be a specialist in everything, but you need to be competent across the basics
- Full UK driving licence — essential, as you will be travelling between properties across Birmingham
- Good communicator — you will be in regular contact with the operations team, support workers, and occasionally residents
- Self-motivated and able to manage your own time and workload without constant supervision
- Comfortable using a smartphone app to log jobs and receive instructions
- Reliable, professional, and committed to high standards
Pay: From £13.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
