About the role
OQS Odin Quality Security Ltd is recruiting a Security Officer for our client Buffaload Logistics Ltd at their Skelmersdale depot — a busy refrigerated logistics site operating 24/7. You'll be based in the security office at the site entrance, controlling all vehicle and pedestrian access, and carrying out thorough checks on every HGV entering and leaving the yard. This is a hands-on, detail-focused role where accuracy matters — you'll be checking trailer temperatures, seals, load integrity and fuel levels on every vehicle movement.
Hours of work
● Nights only: 18:00–06:00
● Worked on a 4 on 4 off rotating shift pattern
● 2 officers on site covering the contract
What you'll be doing
● Controlling all vehicle and pedestrian access and egress to the site
● Logging every vehicle (cars, vans, HGVs, deliveries) in and out on the Inbound/Outbound sheets
● Carrying out full walkaround checks of units and trailers on every inbound and outbound vehicle
● Checking and recording trailer temperatures, seals and load integrity
● Checking red diesel tanks on departing lorries, and cab condition for damage or signs of smoking
● Applying and logging trailer seals on outbound vehicles
● Booking in all visitors and completing health questionnaires for warehouse access
● Carrying out fire and security patrols, including checks of the fuel area and perimeter
● Making regular check calls to the OQS Odin Control Room throughout the shift
● Completing the Daily Site Record and incident reports accurately and promptly
What we're looking for
● A valid SIA licence (Security Guard or Door Supervisor)
● Comfortable working nights and outdoors in all weather
● Confident carrying out vehicle checks, including using a torch and gloves to inspect fuel tanks
● Strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping
● Clear communication skills and a professional, business-like manner
● Previous experience in logistics, distribution or site security is desirable but not essential
