About the Role
G Kullar Contractors and Plant Hire Ltd is seeking an experienced Drainage Pipe Layer to support ongoing construction and enabling works in the Steyning area. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing drainage systems, pipework, and chambers to required depths and specifications, ensuring all works meet safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Install drainage pipes, manholes, and inspection chambers (depths up to approx. 2.5m)
- Excavate trenches to correct line and level
- Lay pipes to gradient, ensuring correct bedding and alignment
- Surround pipes and chambers in GEN3 concrete as specified
- Work safely within deep excavations using trench boxes and shoring
- Backfill and compact materials to specification
- Read and follow site drawings and instructions
- Maintain safe working practices and report hazards immediately
- Collaborate with site management and other trades
Requirements
- Proven experience in drainage installation and deep excavation work
- Understanding of pipe gradients, levels, and construction tolerances
- Ability to work safely in trenches up to 2.5m deep
- CSCS card required
- Deep excavation awareness training preferred
- Ability to work as part of a professional, safety‑driven team
- PPE required (can be provided if needed)
