About Hoots
Hoots Fringe operate multiple venues and bars across Edinburgh during the Fringe, presenting hundreds of performances to thousands of audience members.
The Role
As a Bar Person, you will be responsible for delivering excellent customer service while ensuring drinks are served efficiently, safely and in accordance with licensing laws.
Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service
- Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks efficiently.
- Handle customer enquiries and resolve minor issues.
- Create a welcoming atmosphere for audiences and artists.
- Promote venue events and upcoming performances where appropriate.
Bar Operations
- Open and prepare the bar before service.
- Process card and cash payments accurately.
- Maintain cleanliness and presentation of the bar area.
- Restock fridges, shelves and service stations throughout shifts.
- Monitor stock levels and notify management of shortages.
- Assist with closing procedures and end-of-day reconciliations.
Licensing & Compliance
- Operate in accordance with Scottish licensing laws.
- Challenge customers for proof of age where required.
- Refuse service appropriately when necessary.
- Monitor customer behaviour and escalate concerns.
- Maintain incident and refusal records when required.
Health & Safety
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Follow food hygiene and cleaning procedures.
- Ensure spillages and hazards are dealt with promptly.
- Assist with emergency procedures if required.
- Follow all venue policies and risk assessments.

Pay: £12.71 per hour
