At Platform Housing Group, we're more than a workplace. We're a Platform for People—for our customers, and for our colleagues.
Now, we're looking for a Director of Communications & External Affairs to help shape how we tell that story.
This is a rare opportunity to take on a brand-new senior leadership role, leading how we communicate, influence and build trust—internally and externally—at a pivotal moment in our journey.
We're building our next Corporate Strategy. Our ambition is clear.
As our Director of Communications & External Affairs, you'll make sure our voice matches that ambition—clear, confident and rooted in purpose.
You'll lead how we connect with customers, colleagues and stakeholders. You'll protect and strengthen our reputation. And you'll help us show the real impact of the work we do—building better homes and better futures.
This is your chance to create a lasting impact across a values-driven organisation.
- Setting the direction for all internal and external communications
- Leading our brand and reputation, making sure everything we say reflects who we are
- Owning crisis and issues management, guiding us through complexity with confidence
- Building influential relationships across political, regional and sector networks
- Driving engaging internal communications that support change and bring people with us
- Acting as our senior spokesperson, representing Platform with credibility and impact
- Leading a high-performing team, creating a culture where people can bring their best
You'll be an experienced, strategic leader who knows how to operate at pace and at scale.
- A strong track record in senior communications, PR or external affairs roles
- Experience in complex or regulated environments (housing experience is a bonus)
- Deep expertise in reputation and crisis management
- A natural ability to influence and build trusted relationships
- Strong political awareness and sound judgement
- Experience leading communications through change
- A leadership style that's collaborative, inclusive and empowering
- CIPR or CIM qualification is desirable.
It means a place where people matter, where we work as one team, and where you're supported to bring your best every day.
You'll find:
- A supportive and inclusive culture
- Real opportunities for growth and development
- The flexibility to balance work and life
- A shared purpose—making a difference to customers and communities
Because here, your work doesn't just deliver results. It delivers impact.
This is a home-based role, with regular travel (typically 2–3 days per week), mainly to Solihull and across our operating areas. You'll need to be ready to travel at short notice when needed.
