This is an excellent opportunity to work in a well-established, fast-paced pub restaurant serving quality food alongside regular private functions.
The Role
- 40 hours per week
- Competitive pay: £13.50–£14.50 per hour, depending on experience
- Closed every Monday
- One additional day off each week (weekday or weekend, arranged on a rota)
Your Responsibilities
- Preparing fresh ingredients for daily restaurant service.
- Preparing food for 3–6 private functions each week, including hot and cold buffets.
- Supporting the Head Chef and Sous Chef with day-to-day kitchen operations.
- Cooking and plating dishes to a consistently high standard.
- Ensuring food is prepared in line with recipes and presentation standards.
- Maintaining excellent food hygiene and food safety standards.
- Correctly labelling, dating and rotating food stock (FIFO).
- Keeping your section and the kitchen clean, organised and well maintained.
- Monitoring stock levels and notifying senior chefs of shortages.
- Assisting with deliveries and checking goods received.
- Helping minimise waste and control portion sizes.
- Working efficiently during busy service while maintaining quality.
- Following allergen procedures and ensuring accurate food handling.
- Assisting with kitchen cleaning schedules and end-of-shift duties.
- Working positively as part of a professional kitchen team.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience as a Prep Chef, Chef de Partie or similar role.
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- The ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Knowledge of food hygiene and HACCP principles.
- A genuine passion for producing quality food.
- Reliability, punctuality and excellent attention to detail.
- The flexibility to support both restaurant service and private functions.
