We are recruiting for an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a specialist SEN provision in Croydon. This is a full-time position starting ASAP, with the role continuing until July 2027.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing specialist unit supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). You'll be working alongside an experienced teacher, a supportive team of teaching assistants, and a class of up to 12 pupils in a well-resourced environment.
The role will involve:
- Supporting the class teacher with the delivery of engaging lessons
- Leading small-group intervention sessions to meet individual learning needs
- Taking responsibility for leading the class when required
- Contributing to lesson planning and classroom preparation alongside the teacher
- Supporting pupils with communication and learning using a range of SEN strategies
- Working collaboratively with a dedicated team to provide the best outcomes for pupils
We're looking for someone who has:
- A recognised HLTA qualification
- Previous experience working within a specialist SEN setting
- Confidence in leading groups and managing a classroom when needed
- Happy to provide personal care
- Experience supporting pupils with ASD and complex needs
- Knowledge of Makaton would be a distinct advantage, although not essential
