We are a friendly and growing tuition centre in Slough, dedicated to helping children and young people improve their academic skills and confidence.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable English Tutor to join our team and deliver high-quality English tuition to students of different ages and abilities.
The Role
As an English Tutor, you will:
- Deliver engaging English lessons to students.
- Teach reading, writing, spelling, grammar, punctuation and comprehension.
- Support students with schoolwork and exam preparation.
- Prepare lessons and learning activities according to students' needs.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Help students build confidence and improve their academic performance.
- Maintain a positive and well-managed learning environment.
- Communicate professionally with parents and the tuition centre team.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of English, grammar and comprehension.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Previous teaching or tutoring experience is preferred.
- Experience working with children is desirable.
- Ability to explain concepts clearly and patiently.
- Reliable, organised and enthusiastic approach to teaching.
- A degree, teaching qualification or relevant experience is advantageous.
Experience with 11+, GCSE or primary/secondary English tuition would be an advantage.

Safeguarding
This role involves working with children and young people. The successful candidate will be required to undergo appropriate DBS and safeguarding checks in accordance with our centre's policies.

Qualifications
- Proven experience in tutoring or teaching English, especially with children or young learners
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain concepts clearly and patiently
- Experience working with children or in educational settings that require understanding of child development and engagement techniques
- Knowledge of special education practices is a plus, enabling tailored support for diverse learners
- Enthusiasm for helping students succeed and a proactive approach to lesson planning and delivery
- Ability to create an inclusive environment that fosters confidence and curiosity in learners
