Overview
We are seeking passionate and dedicated male and female pool lifeguards to join our aquatic team. The ideal candidate will have proven experience as a pool lifeguard and hold a relevant lifeguard qualification (NPLQ will be an advantage) or willingness to obtain it.
This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to inspire confidence and promote water safety among learners of all ages and abilities. There are a range of shifts available on Sundays from 16.00 - 18.30 on a self-employed basis.
Core Responsibilities
Supervision & Prevention:
- Watch swimmers in designated areas to identify potential dangers
- Enforce pool rules (e.g., no running, diving in shallow areas)
- Warn patrons about unsafe situations or behaviors.
Emergency Response:
- Rescue swimmers in distress using life-saving techniques
- Administer first aid, CPR, and use an AED as needed
- Call emergency services when necessary.
Facility & Equipment Maintenance:
- Inspect safety equipment (like rescue tubes, backboards)
- Keep pool areas, changing rooms, and decks clean and hazard-free.
Administrative & Support Tasks:
- Complete incident reports and logs
- Assist with swim lessons or pool programs.
Key Skills and Requirements
- Proven Lifeguard experience within a pool environment
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to concentrate for long periods
- Be calm under pressure and decisive in emergency situations
- Lifeguard qualification (NPLQ would be an advantage)
- Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one
- Personal lifeguard insurance or willingness to obtain cover
- Ability to work 1 - 3 hours every Sunday
- A commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism in all activities
