Friends of Frampton Farm is a small, friendly, not-for-profit educational farm providing alternative education, vocational qualifications and therapeutic outdoor learning opportunities for children and young people, including those with SEND, SEMH, school avoidance.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring and reliable Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. This is a varied role where no two days are the same, offering the opportunity to support learners in a unique outdoor environment surrounded by animals, horticulture and nature.
About the Role
The successful candidate will initially work a minimum of three days per week, supporting a range of learners and programmes, including:
Mondays
- Providing 1:1 support for a teenager studying a City & Guilds Animal Care qualification.
- Supporting the learner with theory-based learning, helping them to understand course content, remain engaged and organised, and providing encouragement and emotional support to build confidence and promote positive wellbeing throughout their studies.
Tuesdays
- Teaching Assistant within our Nature Nook Outdoor Learning group.
- Supporting a small group of home-educated children through hands-on learning, animal care, nature-based activities and curriculum-linked sessions.
Thursdays
- Teaching Assistant for our Level 1 Practical Horticulture programme.
- Supporting learners with practical gardening, plant care and outdoor projects while encouraging independence and confidence.
As our educational provision continues to expand, there will be opportunities for additional hours and responsibilities for the right candidate.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or in a similar educational role.
- Has experience supporting children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
- Enjoys working outdoors in all seasons.
- Is patient, positive and able to build trusting relationships with young people.
- Is confident supporting practical activities and encouraging learner independence.
- Has good communication and teamwork skills.
- Is flexible, organised and willing to get involved in all aspects of farm life.
- Has an interest / experience in animals, horticulture or outdoor learning (experience in these areas would be an advantage but is not essential).
Essential Requirements
- Teaching Assistant qualification or significant relevant experience.
- An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
