As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Finance & Operations Manager to lead the financial and operational performance of all three sites.
This is far more than an accounts role. We are looking for someone who will become a trusted member of our leadership team, providing financial insight, driving efficiencies and ensuring the business operates at the highest standard.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will take ownership of the finance function across all three practices while supporting operational performance and continuous improvement.
You will be responsible for ensuring that accurate financial information is available to support strategic decision-making and that robust systems and processes are in place across the business.
Key Responsibilities Financial Management
- Manage the day-to-day finance function across all practices.
- Bank reconciliations.
- Purchase ledger and supplier payments.
- Credit control.
- Cash flow management and forecasting.
- Month-end processes.
- Monthly management accounts.
- Profit & Loss reporting.
- Prepare information for year-end accounts.
Payroll
- Monthly payroll processing.
- Associate and hygienist payment schedules.
- Pension administration.
- Holiday and sickness reporting.
Business Performance Reporting
Produce weekly and monthly management reports covering:
- Practice turnover
- Cash flow
- Profitability
- Payroll percentage
- Laboratory costs
- Stock expenditure
- New patient numbers
- Chair utilisation
- Associate performance
- Hygienist performance
- Outstanding debt
- Key business KPIs
Purchasing & Supplier Management
- Manage purchasing across all three sites.
- Negotiate with suppliers to achieve best value.
- Monitor contracts and rebates.
- Identify opportunities to reduce operating costs.
- Improve purchasing processes and consistency.
Stock Control
- Implement effective stock management systems.
- Monitor stock usage and wastage.
- Coordinate regular stock takes.
- Analyse stock costs and identify savings.
Operational Support
Working alongside Practice Managers to:
- Improve operational efficiency.
- Support budgeting and forecasting.
- Develop systems and processes.
- Assist with compliance documentation where required.
- Support HR administration including contracts and salary changes.
About You
You are proactive, commercially aware and enjoy improving businesses rather than simply maintaining them.
You will have:
- Previous experience in a finance management role.
- Experience managing multiple sites or departments.
- Strong accounting knowledge.
- Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Experience using accounting software such as Xero (or similar).
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
- The confidence to challenge existing processes and recommend improvements.
Experience within healthcare, dentistry, veterinary, optometry or another multi-site service business would be advantageous but is not essential.
What Success Looks Like
Within your first six months you will have:
- Created a finance function that operates efficiently and proactively.
- Introduced clear weekly KPI reporting.
- Delivered accurate monthly management accounts.
- Implemented cash flow forecasting.
- Standardised financial processes across all three practices.
- Identified cost-saving opportunities.
- Built strong working relationships with Practice Managers and clinicians.
- Become a trusted adviser to the Managing Director.
