Job Title: Cook / ChefJob Summary
A Cook/Chef is responsible for preparing high-quality meals, ensuring kitchen operations run smoothly, and maintaining food safety standards. They work as part of a team to deliver consistent, delicious dishes while keeping the kitchen clean and organised.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and standards
- Ensure food is presented attractively and meets quality expectations
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and workstations
- Follow all food hygiene and safety regulations (e.g., HACCP)
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering ingredients
- Store food properly and minimise waste
- Work efficiently during busy service periods
- Collaborate with kitchen staff and communicate effectively
- Assist in menu planning and development (for more senior roles)
- Train or supervise junior staff (Chef roles)
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment (level depends on role)
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Good teamwork and communication
- Creativity and attention to detail (especially for chefs)
- Culinary qualifications (preferred but not always required)
Working Conditions
