At Domi Domingo Day Nursery, we are looking for a knowledgeable, confident and enthusiastic SENCO to join our team and help us continue to provide outstanding support for children with additional needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who already has SENCO experience within an Early Years setting and wants to develop their knowledge further while working as part of a supportive, passionate and forward-thinking nursery team.
About the role
This will be a varied role combining room-based practice with dedicated time away from the room to complete SENCO responsibilities.
You will have protected time to focus on SENCO work, while also remaining involved in everyday nursery practice and building strong relationships with the children, staff and families you support.
You will work closely with our Company SENCO, who will provide ongoing support, guidance and advice. We are also happy to support the successful candidate with further SENCO training and professional development to strengthen their knowledge and confidence within the role.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting children with SEND across the nursery
- Identifying and responding to emerging additional needs
- Supporting practitioners with strategies to meet individual children's needs
- Creating, reviewing and monitoring support plans and targets
- Working closely with parents and carers
- Liaising with external professionals and agencies
- Supporting referrals and gathering appropriate evidence
- Ensuring SEND documentation and records are accurate and up to date
- Supporting staff to develop their SEND knowledge and confidence
- Promoting inclusive practice throughout the nursery
- Working alongside the management team and Company SENCO
- Spending time within the nursery rooms supporting children and modelling high-quality practice
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous SENCO experience within an Early Years setting
- Has a strong understanding of SEND within the Early Years Foundation Stage
- Has experience supporting children with a range of additional needs
- Understands the graduated approach and the importance of early identification and intervention
- Is confident working with parents, professionals and outside agencies
- Is organised and able to manage SENCO paperwork and deadlines effectively
- Can support and coach other practitioners
- Is warm, approachable and passionate about inclusive practice
- Has a strong knowledge of safeguarding
- Is happy to work both within the rooms and independently on SENCO responsibilities
- Wants to continue developing professionally
A relevant Early Years qualification would be highly desirable.

Pay: £13.51-£14.00 per hour
