Brocklehurst Nursing Home is seeking for a dedicated and reliable Kitchen Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will support the kitchen team in providing a high standard of food preparation, hygiene, and service to meet the needs of our residents.
The shift pattern includes weekends and bank holidays as part of the rota. The working hours will be 9:00am to 6:00pm

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation of food under the direction of the Cook/Chef.
- Wash, peel, chop, and prepare ingredients as required.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including work surfaces, utensils, and equipment.
- Wash dishes, pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment promptly and thoroughly.
- Dispose of waste and recycling in line with company policies and local regulations.
- Support the team with stock rotation, storage, and ensuring ingredients are fresh.
- Follow all Health & Safety, COSHH, and food hygiene regulations at all times.
- Assist with basic cooking tasks where appropriate.
- Report any equipment faults or hazards to the Cook/Chef immediately.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Previous experience as kitchen assistant is essential, particularly in a care home environment.
- Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety practices.
- Minimum of one year’s experience in commercial or institutional catering.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Good time management and organisational skills.
- Satisfactory Enhanced DBS check
