Navigators Marine Service Centre
Based in Chichester Marina, Navigators Marine Service Centre offers engineering, electrical and shipwright services for leisure craft in Chichester Harbour and the surrounding areas.
Work carried out by Navigators includes:
- Engineering: engine installations, rebuilds and repair, inboard and outboard servicing.
- Electrical: rewires and repairs, installation of new systems, solar and generators.
- Shipwrights and yacht care: refits and rebuilds, maintenance and plumbing.
Job Description
We are looking for competent mechanical engineers in both full and part time roles to join our team. As part of the Navigators crew your day will vary as much as the vessels you will work on. Either the full time or part time role could suit semi-retired engineer but please note this is a permanent position with regular hours of work, not a casual role.
General hours of work are Monday - Friday 08:00-17:00, occasional weekend work may be required for seasonal promotional events.
Starting wage £15 per hour, dependent on experience.
Engineers will have access to a fully equipped workshop and use of a company van, but are expected to provide and maintain their own hand tools.
Skills and experience
Essential
- Engineering experience - applicant must have relevant hands-on experience and competence to work independently, to diagnose and repair.
- Practical diesel engine experience - working knowledge of repairing, servicing and rebuilding engines of all sizes and age.
- Full UK driving license - you will be expected to drive one of our company vehicles around the marina and to other marinas along the South Coast.
Desired
- City & Guilds Qualifications or other relevant certification - proof of qualifications would be required.
- Knowledge of marine plumbing, fuel and hydraulic systems.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of assigned projects, and complete work required in a timely and professional manner.
- Be confident to work independently on assigned jobs, and at times collaborate with fellow engineers for larger projects.
- Maintain accurate accounts of job progress and communicate with the office team.
- Represent the Navigators brand at all times and build rapport with our customers.
- Be accountable for your own personal development, attend business training and upskill on areas required.
Pay: From £15.00 per hour
