C.L. Jones is a family-run Timber & Builders' Merchant and has been a leading name in the construction supply industry for over 40 years. With 8 branches across North Wales, we have established ourselves as a trusted partner for builders, contractors and DIY enthusiasts throughout the region.
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Trade Counter & Yard Assistant to join our team at our Mynytho branch.
This is a full-time position, with working hours from Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 5:00pm, and rotating Saturday shifts from 8:00am to 12:00pm.
About the role
As a Trade Counter & Yard Assistant, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the branch by providing excellent customer service at the trade counter while also supporting the efficient operation of the yard.
You will be the first point of contact for many of our customers, assisting them in person, over the phone and via email. Due to the nature of our customer base, the ability to communicate confidently in both Welsh and English is essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Serving customers at the trade counter
- Processing orders and quotations in person, by phone and via email
- Handling customer enquiries and assisting with product selection and purchases
- Picking orders and preparing goods for collection or delivery
- Operating a forklift to load/unload vehicles and move stock (training provided if required)
- Maintaining stock control and keeping the company premises clean and organised
- Following all health and safety procedures
- Supporting the wider branch team with general day-to-day duties as required
Requirements:
- Fluent Welsh and English language skills (essential)
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
- Basic IT skills
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to work well within a team in a busy environment
- Physically fit, as the role involves manual handling and heavy lifting
- Previous experience operating a forklift would be advantageous
- Familiarity with the building industry and materials would be beneficial
A forklift license would be preferable, but not essential as training will be provided to the right candidate.
