Radio South West CIC is a new community-focused radio station being developed to connect people, amplify local voices and support communities across Greater Glasgow and South West Scotland.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and reliable Station Manager to help oversee the day-to-day development and coordination of Radio South West CIC as we build the station from the ground up.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to play a key role in developing a new community radio station and helping create a welcoming, inclusive and well-organised environment for presenters, volunteers, community groups and partners.
The Role
As Station Manager, you will help coordinate the practical and operational development of the station, working closely with the Director, Board, presenters, volunteers, community organisations and partners.
Key responsibilities may include:
- Helping coordinate the day-to-day activities and development of Radio South West CIC.
- Supporting the organisation and scheduling of presenters, volunteers and station activities.
- Helping develop systems and processes to support smooth station operations.
- Coordinating meetings, activities, projects and community engagement where required.
- Supporting presenters and volunteers with practical and organisational matters.
- Helping coordinate station programming, events and community activities alongside the Content and Strategy Manager.
- Supporting communication between the Director, Board, presenters, volunteers and external partners.
- Helping develop relationships with community organisations, local groups and other partners.
- Supporting the planning and delivery of community events and station activities.
- Helping identify operational challenges and practical solutions.
- Supporting the development of policies, procedures and working practices.
- Contributing to the future growth, sustainability and development of Radio South West CIC.
About You
We are looking for someone who is organised, proactive and able to work well with different people.
Previous experience as a radio or station manager is not essential. We are interested in people with transferable skills and a willingness to learn and contribute.
Experience in one or more of the following would be valuable:
- Radio, broadcasting or media
- Operations or administration
- Project or team management
- Volunteer coordination
- Community engagement
- Event planning
- Communications
- Partnership development
- Organisational development
You should be comfortable taking responsibility, communicating clearly, solving problems and helping others work effectively as part of a team.
Most importantly, you should share our commitment to inclusion, community participation and giving local people a voice.
Location & Working
This is a hybrid role, combining remote working with opportunities to meet at our premises in Glasgow city centre and attend meetings, station activities, community events and other activities as required.
The role offers flexibility and can initially be carried out on a voluntary basis alongside other commitments.
Voluntary Role & Future Opportunities
This role is initially voluntary.
As Radio South West CIC develops and secures funding, we hope to transition this position into a paid role, subject to funding being available. There may also be opportunities to become involved in other paid projects or roles as the organisation grows.
