Job Summary
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic choral music maker, experienced singer, educator or conductor, to lead the music making amongst the youth (years 3-9) and senior scholars (years 10-university age) at Holy Trinity, Roehampton. The role will include leading weekly rehearsals to bring these groups together with the adult Sunday morning choir, building musical intergenerational relationships in the church. Conducting on a Sunday morning will occasionally feature when discussed with the Executive Director of Music, alongside some necessary administration, but predominantly this work will take place one afternoon a week during termtime.
The intention is to grow music making among young people, funding this in large part through grants which are currently being sought by our project development adviser; thus there is a likelihood of opportunities for the post holder to take on additional responsibilities (appropriately compensated) in future.
Responsibilities
- Helping the Executive DoM to secure the growth and flourishing of music making by the youth and in particular their participation in the Sunday choir
- Leading rehearsals of the Roehampton Children’s Choir, repertoire in consultation with EDoM
- Leading rehearsals of the Junior Choral Scholars (year 7- 9), repertoire in consultation with EDoM
- Rehearsing the Senior Choral Scholars and Roehampton University Scholars with Holy Trinity’s Sunday morning choir
- Availability to conduct the Sunday morning service when required (not a weekly commitment, in discussion with the EDoM)
- Leading the music and organisation at the termly concert with the Roehampton Children’s Choir, in collaboration with the EDoM
- Supporting the EDoM in the growth of the musical community at Holy Trinity, Roehampton
- Any necessary administration to aid the running of the above
- In collaboration with EDoM provide holiday cover for organist
Experience
- Experience either working in education or choral settings.
- Knowledge of special education practices and behaviour management strategies is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, colleagues and the wider church community.
- Demonstrated ability to organise events and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Energised by entrepreneurial pursuits.
This role is ideal for individuals passionate about fostering musical talent in young learners and providing a rich choral education for them coming together with older members of the parish.
