iSightCornwall is preparing to open its first charity retail shop in Truro, and we are looking for an experienced Shop Manager to help launch and grow this exciting new venture.
Established in 1856, iSightCornwall is Cornwall's oldest charity and supports around 4,000 blind and partially sighted people every year. The new shop will raise vital funds, increase awareness of our services and help more people discover the support available through the charity.
The shop will sell quality donated clothing, accessories and household items, alongside a carefully selected range of vision aids and practical products for people living with sight loss.
This is a rare opportunity to create something from the ground up. You will play a key role in shaping the shop's success, building a strong team of staff and volunteers, developing relationships within the local community and helping establish the shop as a valued part of Truro's high street.
About the role
As Shop Manager, you will lead the day-to-day operation of the shop, ensuring an excellent experience for customers, donors and volunteers while delivering sales and income targets.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the successful launch and ongoing management of the shop.
- Create an attractive, welcoming and commercially successful retail environment.
- Drive sales, donations, Gift Aid income and customer engagement.
- Manage stock control, pricing, merchandising and visual displays.
- Train, support and motivate volunteers.
- Lead and develop a small shop team, creating a positive and inclusive culture.
- Build relationships with customers, supporters, local businesses and community groups.
- Promote awareness of iSightCornwall and signpost people to our services where appropriate.
- Maintain high standards of customer service, accessibility and presentation.
- Ensure compliance with financial procedures, health and safety requirements, safeguarding responsibilities and retail regulations.
- Maintain accurate records relating to sales, stock, volunteers and Gift Aid.
