The Head of Technology & Information Security is a senior leadership role responsible for the end-to-end delivery of SiBCAS's technology and information security strategy. The post-holder will lead the company's cyber security programme, own its cloud and IT infrastructure, drive digital transformation, and ensure robust service delivery across all technology functions. The role acts as the company's principal technology authority and deputises for the IT Director as required.
This is a hands-on management role requiring strong technical understanding, service delivery discipline, project coordination skills and the ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders, suppliers and technical staff.
Key Responsibilities
Cyber Security & Information Assurance
- Lead and own the company's Cyber Security programme, aligning it to recognised frameworks including Cyber Essentials Plus, ISO 27001, and NIST CSF 2.0 to maintain accreditation and insurance coverage.
- Maintain and develop the Information Security policy suite in line with evolving industry threats, regulatory requirements, and business needs.
- Implement, maintain, and monitor appropriate security tooling — including SIEM, EDR, and vulnerability management platforms — to ensure alignment with the company's security requirements.
- Own and maintain the Incident Response and IT Disaster Recovery programme, including policy documentation, tooling, and staff training and awareness.
- Produce regular board-level cyber security reports covering risk posture, incident summaries, compliance status, and security awareness metrics.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with relevant regulatory and contractual obligations, including those applicable to defence sector and other regulated customers.
Digital Transformation & Technology Strategy
- Act as the company's technology strategist, maintaining rolling roadmaps that align technology investment to business objectives and board priorities.
- Translate business issues and board priorities into executable programmes and lead delivery of those programmes to completion.
- Assess business needs and prioritise a development roadmap in conjunction with the IT Director and senior leadership team.
- Lead the programme of rationalising legacy bespoke applications, transitioning to off-the-shelf solutions where appropriate.
- Advise the board and senior leadership on emerging technologies and opportunities to improve processes, procedures, and competitive positioning.
- Lead the company's AI adoption and governance programme, aligning to current and evolving industry best practice.
IT Service Management & Infrastructure
- Own responsibility for the performance, monitoring, and ongoing development of the company's on-premises server and network infrastructure.
- Own the organisation's cloud strategy and day-to-day management of Azure, Microsoft 365, Dynamics, and Business Central environments, ensuring resilience, scalability, and security.
- Oversee day-to-day service desk operations, including incident management, request fulfilment, and end-user support, ensuring consistent service quality and minimal business disruption.
- Manage the company's communications and mobile device estate, ensuring resilience, security, and performance of business-critical systems.
- Own the backup and recovery programme, ensuring appropriate RTO and RPO targets are defined, documented, and achievable.
Leadership & General
- Provide line management, coaching, and professional development to the IT team.
- Act as deputy to the IT Director, representing the technology function at senior leadership and board level as required.
- Stay abreast of industry developments and emerging technologies to ensure the company has access to best-in-class solutions that drive shareholder value.
- Contribute to wider organisational governance, risk, and compliance activities as a member of the senior management team.
Person SpecificationEssential Qualifications & Certifications
- Demonstrable experience at Head of IT, Head of Information Security, or equivalent senior technology leadership level
- Strong working knowledge of cyber security frameworks: Cyber Essentials Plus, ISO 27001, NIST CSF
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, and associated security tooling (Defender, Sentinel)
- Experience managing IT service desk operations and multi-site infrastructure environments
- Proven track record of delivering digital transformation and technology change programmes
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Membership of a recognised professional body such as the Chartered Institute of Information Security (CIISec)
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent senior security qualification
- Experience with ERP platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics or Business Central
- Experience of board-level reporting and executive stakeholder management
- Familiarity with AI governance, strategy, and security frameworks

Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5.00pm with a one-hour lunch break. Flexibility may be considered for the right candidate.
