Operations Manager (Self-Employed) – Established Pet Care Business
North Cotswolds | Initial 4-Month Opportunity
A rare opportunity to step into an established premium pet care business.
Hound & Hoof is seeking an experienced animal care professional to oversee the day-to-day running of an established pet care business during an initial four-month period from October 2026 to January 2027.
This is far more than a dog walking role. It's an opportunity to take responsibility for an established operation with regular work, genuine autonomy and the chance to make a real impact.
For the right person, there may be scope to discuss a longer-term arrangement beyond the initial contract.
The Role
You'll be responsible for the day-to-day running of the business, including:
- Managing a structured weekday group walking operation
- Route planning and scheduling
- Client communication and relationship management
- Maintaining exceptional standards of animal care
- Optional horse care
- Supporting the wider day-to-day operation of the business
You'll work independently while maintaining the professional standards Hound & Hoof is known for.
A full handover and training period will be provided before taking over the day-to-day operation.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has professional experience working with animals
- Is confident handling multiple dogs safely
- Is organised, dependable and an excellent communicator
- Enjoys working independently and taking responsibility
- Takes pride in delivering exceptional customer service
- Holds a full UK driving licence
- Has access to a suitable vehicle
Most importantly, you'll genuinely care about providing outstanding care for both animals and their owners.
Working Arrangement
- Self-employed opportunity
- Approximately 30 hours per week
- Competitive weekly rate of £500–£600, depending on experience and responsibilities
- Business insurance provided by Hound & Hoof
- Structured handover and paid training from mid-September 2026
- Operational responsibility from October 2026
The initial opportunity covers four months, with the potential to discuss a longer-term arrangement if it's the right fit for everyone involved.
