About Cole Energy
Cole Energy is an MCS-certified renewable energy company based in Plymouth.
We install solar PV, battery storage and renewable energy systems for homes and businesses throughout Devon and Cornwall.
We’re looking for an experienced roofer to join our installation team on a full-time employed basis.
The Role
You’ll work alongside our electricians and solar installers carrying out the roof-side of solar PV installations.
Typical duties include:
- Installing solar PV roof mounting systems
- Fitting and positioning solar panels
- Working with tile, slate and other roofing systems
- Carrying out minor tile/slate repairs where required
- Lead flashing and general roofing work
- Setting out solar arrays accurately
- Loading and organising materials for installations
- Maintaining good site safety and workmanship standards
- Working alongside electricians to complete installations efficiently
Most work is throughout Devon and Cornwall, although occasionally jobs may be further afield.
As with most construction and renewable installation work, schedules can sometimes change because of weather, customer requirements, scaffolding, deliveries or other site issues, so we’re looking for somebody who is reasonably flexible when required.
What We’re Looking For
✅ Previous roofing experience – tile and/or slate
✅ Comfortable working at height
✅ Good attention to detail
✅ Reliable and able to work as part of a small team
✅ Full UK driving licence
✅ Good communication skills
Solar PV experience would be a big advantage, although we’re happy to train an experienced roofer who wants to move into renewable energy.
CSCS, working-at-height training or other relevant qualifications would also be beneficial but aren't essential for the right person.

Hours
Hours vary depending on workload, weather and site location.
Most installation days start at around 8am, with finishing times depending on the job and travel involved. Some days can finish earlier, while longer days may occasionally be required.
