Role Summary
The Underwriting Operations Assistant will play a key role in supporting the Novus underwriting business, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of bordereaux, premium and claims funds, insurer reporting, and operational data activities. This is a highly detail-oriented and data-driven position, suited to an individual who enjoys working with large volumes of information and takes pride in delivering accurate, high-quality work. The successful candidate will help maintain the integrity of operational and underwriting data, supporting the efficient flow of premium and claims transactions between clients, insurers, and the business. Working closely with underwriting, finance, and operational stakeholders, the role provides exposure to a broad range of insurance processes and offers an excellent opportunity to develop knowledge of delegated authority, bordereaux management, insurer reporting, and operational controls within a fast-paced and growing underwriting environment.
Role Accountabilities
- Receive, validate, and process bordereaux submissions, ensuring data is complete, accurate, and successfully transferred into underwriting and operational systems.
- Investigate and resolve data discrepancies, validation failures, and processing issues to maintain data integrity across all platforms.
- Maintain accurate records of bordereaux activity, reporting status, and supporting documentation in line with audit and governance requirements.
- Support premium and claims cash management activities, including reconciliations, matching receipts, and resolving unmatched transactions.
- Produce and distribute insurer bordereaux and reporting in accordance with contractual and regulatory requirements, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Monitor outstanding claims and support the collection and settlement of claims monies, working closely with insurers, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
- Administer premium and claims payments, ensuring transactions are processed accurately, efficiently, and within agreed service standards.
- Perform regular data quality checks, reconciliations, and control activities, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Contribute to operational excellence initiatives by supporting process enhancements, automation opportunities, and continuous improvement across the underwriting operations function.
Role Requirements
- Experience within the London Market, insurance, MGA, broking, delegated authority, or underwriting operations environment is desirable.
- Exposure to bordereaux processing, premium accounting, claims administration, or insurer reporting would be advantageous.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, with confidence working with spreadsheets, reconciliations, and large data sets.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and validate complex information.
- Ability to investigate, analyse, and resolve discrepancies in a timely and effective manner.
