We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis Chef to join our tea Room. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the kitchen operations, preparing high-quality dishes, and maintaining exceptional food safety standards. Duties
- Assist in food preparation and cooking, baking under the supervision of senior chefs, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Support food production processes, including plating dishes and decorating cakes to meet presentation standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations in accordance with food safety regulations.
- Contribute to the efficient running of the kitchen by managing multiple tasks during busy service periods.
- Supervise junior team members when required, providing guidance and support to ensure smooth team management.
- Ensure all food safety protocols are adhered to, including proper storage, handling, and hygiene practices.
- Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages or discrepancies.
- Support the team during service hours, including serving dishes when necessary, to enhance guest satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a professional kitchen environment or hospitality setting.
- Knowledge of food production techniques, cooking methods, and presentation skills.
- Strong understanding of food safety standards and hygiene regulations.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service times.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
- Passion for baking arts with a keen interest in developing further skills within a recognised establishment.
- Previous experience in high end restaurant or hospitality environments is highly desirable but not essential for entry-level candidates eager to learn.
