At Kraken, we're developing the next generation of autonomous maritime systems and are looking for a Junior Systems Engineer to join our growing engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience across the full engineering lifecycle while working alongside experts in software, systems, electrical, mechanical and autonomy engineering.
You'll play a key role in supporting the development of real-world autonomous platforms, helping to transform innovative concepts into operational solutions used in demanding maritime environments.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Junior Systems Engineer, you'll support engineering activities from initial requirements capture through to integration and acceptance testing.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with the capture, definition and management of system requirements
- Supporting concept development, system design and integration activities
- Contributing to system architectures, interface definitions and technical documentation
- Working with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate engineering activities
- Supporting verification, validation and acceptance testing of products and prototypes
- Assisting with configuration management and engineering change processes
- Producing technical documentation including requirements, test plans and design reviews
- Collaborating with suppliers, partners and internal stakeholders to support project delivery
What We're Looking For

Essential
- Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic, Aerospace, Software Engineering or a related discipline
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to understand technical documentation, specifications and engineering drawings
- A proactive attitude and desire to learn
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
Desirable
- Exposure to maritime, robotics, autonomous systems or related industries
- Understanding of systems engineering principles and lifecycle processes
- Experience contributing to projects involving hardware and software integration
