You will be working in the Infrastructure OU based in Wolverhampton in where we are responsible for bringing design, build and refurbishment excellence to complex civil engineering projects nationwide – combining technical expertise with a passion for creating lasting value for people and places.
In our Infrastructure team, we are creating a vital 1.6‑mile link road between the M54 and M6, complete with upgraded junctions and three new bridges. This direct motorway connection will reduce congestion and strengthen regional connectivity.
We are currently looking for a Design Manager who will manage and own the detailed design through to successful completion of SGAR5 and then to take on the role of design manager through stage 6. The role will be a link between the Client’s team, Technical Authorities, the consultant design team, Skanska and the sub-contractors.
As the Design Manager, you will:

Manage the development of complete, and coordinated design information at all stages of the Project. Particularly during detailed design and then through to construction and into handover.

Work with the commercial team to ensure correct payment of The Designer on a monthly basis.

Work within Skanska’s Design Management Plan and consistent management processes.

Manage the flow of information in conjunction with the BIM and Document Controller, whilst ensuring the maintenance of all records

Ensure all responsibilities under CDM legislation are identified, assigned and maintained.

Ensure that Project design complies with the brief, contract, employers requirements, building control and where appropriate the DCO and conditions.
We are looking for:

Educated to Degree Level or Higher Degree (post graduate)

Preferable to hold relevant professional qualification

Experience of working within project-based design management
-
Experience Highways projects
-
Experience of managing the challenges associated with multi-disciplinary teams.

Design or construction based background within the infrastructure sector
-
Ability to interrogate construction detailing/ building methodology

Knowledge of up to date Building Regulations and Planning requirements
