Job Summary
The Shift Lead is responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of EBPC services across all sites operating in the out of hours period. This includes but is not limited to GP out of hours, clinical assessment services (CAS), urgent care centre (UCC) and enhanced access services. The role will involve overseeing day to day activities during their shift, coordinating staff, managing resources, and promptly addressing any issues to maintain high standards of service delivery and patient safety.
Responsibilities and duties
1. Operational Management
Oversee the day to day operations of EBPC services, ensuring smooth and efficient performance during assigned shifts. Monitor workflows, address operational issues promptly, and ensure that service standards and protocols are consistently followed.
2. Escalation and problem solving
Act as a first point of escalation for operational issues, addressing them directly or escalating to senior management as needed.
3. Resource Management
Ensure any resource levels or staffing issues, due to unplanned absence/sickness or demand levels, are dealt with in a timely manner and escalated to senior management if unable to resolve. Deploying staff efficiently, reassigning duties to cover absence and capacity issues.
4. Patient Flow
Facilitate the smooth movement of patients through EBPC services by coordinating with relevant departments to minimise delays and enhance the overall patient experience.
5. Quality and Safety Job Title:
Ensure adherence to safety protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and quality standards across all sites during the shift. Proactively identify, assess, and address any risks or concerns to maintain a safe and compliant working environment.
6. Communication
Ensure clear, consistent, and timely communication within the team and across departments to facilitate collaboration, align objectives, and prevent misunderstandings. This includes regular updates, transparent feedback, and the effective use of communication tools.
Facilitate smooth handovers between shifts, liaise with clinical/non-clinical staff, and produce shift reports.
7. Training
Coordinate and deliver training to new and existing staff to ensure they are competent, confident, and compliant with EBPC policies and operational procedures.
Support staff in adopting new processes and systems and provide constructive feedback to promote continuous improvement. Foster a positive learning environment, helping maintain high standards of performance, safety, and service delivery while ensuring the team is equipped to meet operational objectives effectively.
8. Partnership
Collaborate across health & social care sectors to ensure smooth transitions for patients.

Hours of work: Saturday and Sunday 14:00-20:00
Location: Head Office in Bracknell - We operate 24/7, so you must be flexible to work in the call centre or at a base Responsible to:
Pay: Up to £15.00 per hour
