We are seeking an Automation Engineer to strengthen our Production Engineering team.

Design and implement automated manufacturing processes to improve production efficiency and performance.

Analyse production processes and identify opportunities to increase automation and optimise equipment utilisation.

Collaborate with equipment suppliers to develop safe, efficient and high-quality manufacturing solutions.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues within automated production equipment, PLC systems and manufacturing processes.

Lead capital investment projects for new and upgraded equipment, ensuring clear return on investment and effective budget management.

Support quotation activities, investment planning and manufacturing feasibility studies for new business opportunities.

Work closely with Production Engineering and Maintenance teams to ensure successful introduction and handover of new automated systems.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including machine upgrades, process optimisation, OEE improvements and JIT activities.

Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including FMEA, process flow diagrams, control plans and APQP requirements.

Define project targets, monitor performance and implement actions to maximise productivity, quality and operational efficiency.

Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).

Proven experience in PLC programming, fault finding and implementation of automated manufacturing systems (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Keyence or similar).

Strong knowledge of robotics, pneumatic systems and mechanical equipment used in production environments.

Experience applying structured problem-solving methodologies such as RCCA, DMAIC, PDCA, 5 Why and Fishbone Analysis.

Knowledge of IATF-compliant production engineering documentation, including FMEA, control plans and process flow diagrams.

Understanding of OEE, planned maintenance systems and spare parts management.

Demonstrated project management skills, including capital investment planning and implementation.

Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Experience within automotive and/or electronics manufacturing environments is highly desirable.
