Freelance Carpenter Improver, Campervan Conversions
Sunbox Campers, Newhaven, East Sussex
£125 to £145 per day dependent on experience, reviewed after three months | Ongoing year-round work, workshop based
We build high end, handmade campervans. We're looking for a qualified carpenter improver on a freelance basis who wants to develop their skills across two areas: second fix cabinetry and campervan fitting.
This is a dual role. Roughly half the work is carpentry, building and fitting handmade cabinetry, worktops, linings and furniture to a high finish. The other half is campervan fitting: insulation, panelling, electrics prep, windows, beds and kitchen units going into vans. You don't need any campervan experience but you do need to be keen to learn that side of our work.
You'll be working alongside and learning from highly experienced carpenters and campervan fitters in a small workshop where the standard of finish is everything. No two builds are the same, every van is designed around its owner, and you'll see projects through from bare van to finished camper. This is ongoing work rather than a one-off project.
What we're looking for:
- Carpentry qualification (NVQ Level 2 or equivalent)
- Some second fix experience, site or workshop based
- A real interest in learning campervan fitting
- Good attention to detail and pride in a clean finish
- Clean, tidy and considerate
- Reliable, self-employed, with your own hand and power tools plus PPE (larger machinery provided in the workshop)
Our conversions have been featured on Channel 5's Million Pound Motorhomes and in The Telegraph.
To apply, email your CV and some photos of your work to [email protected], with a few lines about why the work interests you. Only applications made this way will be considered.
Pay: £124.00-£145.00 per day
