Job Summary
We are seeking a talented and experienced Cook to deliver exceptional homemade warming meals to the children in our care. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing homemade dishes, planning menu's, maintaining the kitchen and ensuring adherence to food safety standards.
We are a beautiful setting in the middle of Eastleigh with four age specific rooms, we have babies right through to they fly the nest for school! We would love our Nursery Cook to become a big part of our team, getting to know the children, holding cookery lessons and even going for walks with the children to buy fresh ingredients.
This role would be a job share with another Nursery Cook, doing two days a week, Thursday and Friday.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth workflow and high standards of food quality.
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in accordance with the menu.
- Maintain strict compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and manage stock efficiently.
- To be responsible for developing your own menu's that meets the child's preferences.
- To have a secure knowledge of allergen awareness, to be able to plan deliver multiple meals and ensure children's safety with different multiple allergies.
- Ensure cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen at all times.
Skills
- Proven experience in food production, cooking, and kitchen management.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in hygiene management.
- Previous restaurant experience or Nursery cook experience is desirable.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and working in a busy environment.
