Finance Assistant (Part-Time)
Role Overview
We're looking for a Part-Time Finance Assistant to own the day-to-day financial operations of the business. You'll handle everything from raising monthly invoices and chasing payments through to assisting with management accounts and supporting year-end reporting.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys variety, works accurately under minimal supervision and understands (or wants to learn) the rhythm of a subscription-based IT services business.

What is on offer?
- Salary - £11,000–£16,000 (dependent on experience)
- Hours - 15 hours per week with the opportunity for additional hours based on business needs and mutual agreement. We offer flexible working arrangements and are open to discussing how the hours are worked, including school hours, shorter daily hours, or longer days across fewer working days.

Key Responsibilities
Billing & Revenue
- Generate monthly invoices for managed services, projects, and ad-hoc support using data from our CRM tool.
- Process and manage direct debit collections; encourage customers not yet on direct debit to adopt it
- Monitor aged debt, chase overdue invoices, issue statements and escalate where necessary
Accounts & Cash Management
- Reconcile bank transactions daily against our accounting platform
- Review and process supplier invoices from distributors, cloud vendors, and other providers
- Monitor cashflow, forecast upcoming income/expenditure
- Review and approve employee expenses against policy
Reporting & Compliance
- Produce monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cashflow) for leadership review
- Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns to HMRC
- Support year-end statutory accounts preparation
General
- Handling phone/email enquiries around billing
- Helping wider team improve billing/accounting processes

Skills & Experience
Essential
- Previous experience in a bookkeeping, accounts administration or finance assistant role
- Confident with accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately with numbers
- Comfortable chasing payments and having firm but professional conversations
- Organised, self-motivated and able to manage your own workload
Desirable
- Experience in an MSP or IT sector
- Familiarity with CRM platforms and/or Xero Accounting software
- AAT qualified or part-qualified (or equivalent experience)
