We’re looking for a Head of Bids to lead and evolve our bids function as a key driver of commercial success.
This is a senior leadership role where you’ll set the direction for our bids approach, lead and develop the team, and help improve how we convert opportunities into revenue. You’ll work closely with partners and senior stakeholders across the firm to ensure the function adds value and supports the pensions market effectively.
Reporting to the Head of Commercial Group, you’ll also work in partnership with the Head of New Business and business unit leaders.
What will your role look like?
You’ll balance strategic leadership with the day-to-day running of the bids function—shaping our approach, improving how we work, and ensuring we deliver high-quality proposals and pitches.
A key part of the role is building a high-performing, inclusive team with the right skills, structure and support to succeed now and in the future.
Though this is a varied role, your key tasks will include:
- Setting the direction of the bids function, aligned to commercial priorities and growth plans
-
Establishing clear governance across the bid lifecycle, from pipeline through to submission and pitch
-
Focusing effort on the opportunities that matter most, supporting effective bid decisions
-
Working with partners and client teams to shape strong, client-focused proposals
-
Supporting clear value propositions, messaging and high-quality submissions
-
Building strong relationships across the firm, acting as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders
-
Leading, coaching and developing a team of bid professionals
-
Improving ways of working, including the use of data, technology, AI and new tools
-
Providing insight on performance to support continuous improvement
To enjoy and succeed in this role, you will have:
- Experience leading bids or proposals in a professional services or similar environment
-
Confidence working with senior stakeholders and contributing to decision-making
-
The ability to connect bid activity to wider business goals
-
Strong communication skills, with a focus on clarity and quality
-
A collaborative and supportive leadership style
-
Good commercial awareness and sound judgement
-
An interest in improving processes, including the use of data, AI and technology
We would also encourage applications from candidates who perhaps do not possess all the attributes and experience listed above but are competent with the majority and would be able to quickly develop the additional skills and experience required in post with our full support. We would also love to hear about other knowledge and experience you may have that is not listed but could be of interest.
A more detailed list of requirements for this position is available within the role profile – which is available on request.
In addition to a competitive salary and access to our profit share scheme, we offer:
-
A flexible selection of employee benefits, so you can choose a package that best matches your lifestyle and needs.
-
A collaborative and encouraging work environment where your thinking and ideas are encouraged.
-
On site mental health and wellbeing assistance.
-
A commitment to helping you develop both personally and professionally, with mentoring opportunities and access to our award-winning learning portal, Aspire.
-
Regular social activities, in addition to three days paid volunteering leave each year and a day’s leave to celebrate your birthday.
-
Hybrid working so you can enjoy the positive wellbeing of working from home as well as the benefits of meeting colleagues in our sociable, modern office environments – with the expectation of two ‘in-office’ days per week.
-
A flexible working window, allowing colleagues the freedom to work flexibly between the hours of 7am and 7pm.
