Salary: £100 - £160 per day (dependent on experience)
Secondary School Cover Supervisor – Immediate Start Available
We are currently recruiting Secondary School Cover Supervisors to work across a range of secondary schools in Newport. This role involves supervising classes across multiple subjects when teachers are absent and ensuring students stay engaged with the work provided.
This opportunity is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, experienced Teaching Assistants, youth workers, sports coaches, or individuals with experience working with young people who are looking to gain valuable classroom experience.
- Supervise secondary school classes (Years 7–11 or 7–13) across a variety of subjects.
- Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials provided by teaching staff.
- Maintain strong classroom management and positive behaviour standards.
- Ensure students remain focused and complete the assigned work.
- Provide support and guidance where needed.
- Report lesson outcomes and behaviour issues to teaching staff.
- Follow all school safeguarding and behaviour policies.
- Experience working with children or young people (schools, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, youth work etc.).
- Confident managing groups of students in a classroom environment.
- Excellent communication and behaviour management skills.
- Ability to cover a range of subjects at secondary level.
- Enhanced DBS Certificate (on the Update Service preferred) or willingness to obtain one.
- Degree or relevant qualification.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Tutor, or Instructor.
- Interest in pursuing a career in teaching or education.
