Summary
We are looking for a fully competent, self-sufficient HGV Technician to join our fast-paced Ellistown workshop. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining a diverse range of heavy goods vehicles and trailer units from various manufacturers, ensuring every vehicle is prepared to the highest standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Repairs: Carry out routine inspections, servicing, and repairs on all makes of HGVs and trailers to DVSA (VOSA) standards.
- Diagnostics & Electrics: Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults utilizing dealer and third-party diagnostic equipment; interpret wiring diagrams and manuals.
- Admin & Parts: Liaise with departments to secure correct components timely; ensure all job cards, service sheets, and inspection sheets are completed clearly and accurately.
- Defect Direction: Understand a fleets needs and use to make confident decisions on defect management through our VAPTA system.
What You Bring to the Table
- Mechanical Knowledge: NVQ Level 3 in HGV Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent) and/or Time-Served.
- Computer Literate: Capable of using a tablet for routine inspections and gathering photo evidence of defects
- Work Ethic: Highly motivated with a can do attitude to keep our customer vehicles on the road in a timely manner
- Detail-Oriented: An eagle eye for administrative details with job card write up and allocating used parts to the jobs
- Self Starter: Able to achieve your days work and manoeuvre vehicles in our yard. Class 1/2 preferred but not a requirement
Working hours;
Shift Pattern Rotating 1 in 3
Early Shift: Monday to Friday 06:00 – 14:00
Late Shift: Monday to Friday 14:00 – 22:00 & Saturday 06:00-12:00
(Fixed late shift option also available)
Pay: Based on an hourly rate, with an additional late shift allowance
Pay: £51,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
