As part of our continued growth, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Transport Manager to lead our transport operation, ensuring the highest standards of compliance, efficiency, and customer service.
The Role
The Transport Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day transport operation, ensuring full compliance with Operator Licence requirements, transport legislation, and company policies. The successful candidate will lead and support drivers and transport staff while driving operational improvements and maintaining excellent service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure full compliance with Operator Licence requirements.
- Monitor and manage driver hours, Working Time Directive, and tachograph compliance.
- Ensure all transport activities comply with current legislation and company procedures.
- Maintain accurate transport records and compliance documentation.
- Manage and support drivers to ensure high standards of performance, safety, and compliance.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and compliance breaches where required.
- Oversee daily transport operations and resource planning.
- Monitor fleet utilisation and operational performance.
- Produce reports and analyse transport data to support decision-making.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
- Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Support business growth through continuous improvement of transport processes and operational performance.
Essential Requirements
- Valid Transport Manager CPC Certificate of Professional Competence (Road Haulage)
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a Transport Manager or Transport Supervisor role.
- Strong understanding of Operator Licence compliance and transport legislation.
- Experience managing drivers and transport teams.
- Knowledge of driver hours regulations and tachograph compliance.
- Previous experience working within a busy transport or traffic office environment.
- Strong administrative, planning, and data management skills.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Transport Management Systems.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work accurately and effectively within a fast-paced operational environment.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Flexible approach to working hours to support operational requirements when needed.
