Chris Wright Baildon Ltd is an established specialist transport and machinery movement company based in Baildon, West Yorkshire.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced HGV Class 2 Driver to join our team.
This is specialist transport work – not general haulage.
The role involves transporting plant, machinery, generators and industrial equipment throughout the UK using rigid beavertail vehicles.
The Role
- Operating a rigid beavertail vehicle
- Transporting plant, machinery, generators and industrial equipment throughout the UK
- Loading and unloading plant and machinery
- Correctly positioning, securing and checking loads before transport
- Using chains, straps and other load-restraint equipment safely and correctly
- Carrying out daily vehicle checks and reporting defects
- Completing all necessary transport and delivery documentation
- Working closely with our traffic office, customers and site teams
- Working on construction, industrial and customer sites throughout the UK
- Representing the company professionally at all times
- Occasional nights away as required
Pay & Benefits
- £15.20 per hour for the first 45 hours
- Overtime paid at time and a third
- £26.20 night-out allowance
- Typical annual earnings £38,220 – £47,000, depending on overtime and nights out

What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence
- Valid Driver CPC
- Digital tachograph card
- Good understanding of load security
- Experience using chains, straps and other load-restraint equipment
- Confidence loading and securing plant, machinery or similar equipment
- Good understanding of drivers' hours and tachograph regulations
- Professional attitude and good communication skills
- Good standard of vehicle care
- Ability to work independently and use common sense when problems arise
- Flexibility for nationwide work, early starts, late finishes and nights away
Desirable
Experience in any of the following would be particularly beneficial:
- Loader/Securer or equivalent load-securing qualification
- Plant and machinery transport
- Beavertail vehicles
- Construction plant
- Agricultural machinery
- Generators
- Industrial machinery
We are looking for somebody who takes pride in their vehicle and their work, understands that load security is their responsibility and is comfortable dealing directly with customers and site personnel.
This role would suit an experienced driver who wants something more interesting and varied than general haulage and wants to build a career within specialist transport.
