Product Engineer
About Us
Microtech Filters Ltd are a filter cartridge manufacturing company based in Pinxton, Nottinghamshire. We manufacture and supply filter cartridges for a wide range of machinery and industries around the world.
We are looking for a practical, self-motivated Product Engineer to join us. As our only engineer, you will be our go-to technical expert. You will work closely with our production team and management to solve every day manufacturing puzzles, machinery issues, improve our setups, and help us bring new products to life.
What You Will Be Doing
- Own the Engineering: Take charge of all technical tasks, from fixing machinery issues to creating our drawings and everything in between.
- New Products: Take ideas from a sketch or concept and figure out how we can actually build them efficiently.
- Keep Production Moving: Design simple, clever jigs, fixtures, and workshop aids to make assembly easier, safer, and faster for the team.
- CAD & Drawings: Use SolidWorks to create 3D models and clear, accurate drawings for our team and external suppliers.
- Problem Solving: When things go wrong on the shop floor, work with the team to find out why and put a practical fix in place.
- Machinery and product knowledge: Familiarise yourself with our machinery and master all the processes of how filter cartridges are made. Our production staff will need your engineering and manufacturing knowledge to assist them in daily operations and make improvements.
- Machinery maintenance and repair: A working background of machinery knowledge, repair and maintenance relevant to filtration is beneficial to keep things running smoothly.
- Organize the Data: Keep our drawings, maintenance records, product specifications, and project data organized and up to date.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience: Around 10+ years working in engineering and manufacturing environment.
- SME Mindset: You enjoy the variety of a smaller business where you aren't boxed into just one task.
- SolidWorks Skills: You can confidently navigate SolidWorks to produce reliable drawings without needing your work double-checked.
- Practical Knowledge: You understand how things are actually made, machined, or assembled, and can talk the same language as our suppliers and workshop team.
- Independence: You are comfortable making technical decisions on your own and managing your own workload.
- No Jargon: You have a down-to-earth, helpful attitude and prefer practical action over creating paperwork.
What we offer
Hours & Flexibility: This is an ideal role for someone looking for permanent and stable, part-time work. We are offering a minimum of 25 hours up to 30 hours.
Production operates Monday – Thursday 6am –4pm and your agreed days and times will fit within this.
We can be flexible for the right candidate and are happy to negotiate hours and days to fit around your life, family, or other commitments.
